Instructor: Malek W 3:35pm – 4:30pm
Grounded in composition theory, Practicum is concerned with the practice of teaching first-year writing: managing classroom activities, devising meaningful assignments, assessing student work, and keeping on top of the paper load. You’ll have opportunities to discuss what’s going on in your composition sections, to share ideas, assess what’s working, what’s not and why, and to prepare for the next week’s work.
The course offers a chance to debrief, de-stress, get helpful feedback and suggestions, and practice teaching strategies. Because the class is comprised of students with varying levels of teaching experience, it is also an opportunity to participate in a community of engaged teachers and scholars.
