This course is an introduction to the theory and methods of the digital humanities (DH), with particular focus on how to analyze literary texts using digital approaches. The class will begin with an overview of major debates and foundational work in DH, and will progress to hands-on projects that will give students competence in text encoding, basic text mining, data visualization, and digital narrative. No prior experience with digital techniques or computer programming is assumed.
