Service Learning Course

Students will learn about the genre and process of writing grants and proposals. They will be introduced to the content and format of reports, such as the memo report, statistical report, analytical report, and recommendation report. Since business reports are quite often intended for a wide variety of different audiences, students will spend time analyzing the purpose and audience(s) for their reports. Additionally, students will explore the process of locating funding opportunities, determining persuasive appeals, and writing and editing proposals. Coursework will involve readings, request for proposal summaries, and writing and editing proposals. Projects will be client focused and include service learning projects for area non-profits or government agencies.
